This semester we are offering some classes in remote, hybrid, and flex format, which is reflected on the PDF version of the spring schedule.

(E) This course has been designated as an experiential course. Please note – for courses designated both (W) and (E), students may apply the course to either requirement, but not both.
(DE) This course has been designated as a distance education course. No more than 1/3 of a student’s required 89 credits to graduate may be distance education credits.
^ The final exam for Law 198-R01, Law 112-R04, Law 121-R01, Law 298-R02, & 222-R03 will be conducted in-person at Mason Square (Arlington campus).
Notes to Day Schedule:
(N.1) Students must have completed Administrative Law (Law 116) or Administrative Law: Adjudication (Law 753).
(N.2) This course will meet on weekends (1/27 & 1/28, 2/10 & 2/11, & 4/6 & 4/7/24), meeting 9 a.m.–5 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m.–3 p.m. on Sundays. Students must also keep the weekend of 3/16–17 available for make-ups.
(N.3) Course meets each Monday throughout the semester.
(N.4) The Arts & Entertainment and Innovation Law Clinics meet for two hours a week but students receive three credits total because of meetings and work required outside of the regularly scheduled classroom time. (N.5) JD students who have taken the Comparative Law Seminar (Law 439) once may enroll a second time because course content has changed for Spring 2024.
(N.6) Course will consist of one hour in person each week to discuss and review work performed asynchronously throughout the balance of the week. Students will receive one in-class credit and two out-of-class credits. Final exam will be conducted in-person at Mason Square (Arlington campus).
(N.7) Some required class meetings for the Giles Rich Moot Court may take place prior to Jan. 16th. Federal Circuit Practice Seminar (Law 437) is a prerequisite for the Giles Rich Moot Court (Law 125).
(N.8) The Immigration Litigation, M-VETS, and Poverty Law Clinics meet for two hours a week but students will receive four credits total for the semester because of meetings and work outside of the regularly scheduled classroom time. (N.9) JD students who have taken Jurisprudence Readings Seminar (Law 662) once may enroll a second time because course content changes semester to semester.
(N.10) JD students who have taken the Law & Economics Colloquium (Law 208) once may enroll a second time because course content changes semester to semester. This course will award one in-class credit and one out-of-class credit.
(N.11) Law & Regulation of Financial Institutions will run from 1:50-3:30 p.m. on Mondays, and 1:50-3:50 p.m. on Wednesdays.
(N.12) Legal Fundamentals is a required course for students ranked in the bottom quartile (25%) of the class at the end of their penultimate year. Those students will be notified directly by the Records Office. The course will open for registration as an elective option, to students in their final year, at a date to be announced.
(N.13) Legal Practicum – Global Antitrust Regulatory Comments (Law 304) meets for two hours a week but students receive three credits total because of work required outside of the regularly scheduled classroom time.
(N.14) This course will not meet weekly but will meet on assigned dates over the course of the semester as listed in the course syllabus.
(N.15) Students must receive approval to register for the Supervised Externship programs and should submit the Externship Information form found in the Externship Module on Symplicity to begin the process. (Virginia Practice Externship applicants will submit the form after meeting with the program directors.) To access the form, log on to Symplicity and select the Externship Module from the “Shortcuts” on the right side of the screen or the “Experiential Module” (it shows both ways) and select “add.” Once approved, students will be registered by the Records Office for the appropriate externship course. Students not being compensated for the work performed will be registered for Law 320, 321, or 179. Students being compensated for the work being performed will be registered for Law 520, 521, or 579. Students are limited to a maximum of 6 credit hours of compensated externship credit and such credit may be earned only in a student’s final two full semesters (fall or spring).
