Legal Practicum - Startup Company

The Startup Company Practicum will be a simulation in which students will work on transactional matters for fictional startup company clients. Students may work on a range of legal matters related to startup companies, including issues connected to business formation, ongoing business operations, and financings. This course is offered in the Spring and is worth three (3) credits (2 in-class, 1 out-of-class for project work). Space is limited, and students must have completed Business Associations (or agree to take Business Associations concurrently), or a have substantially equivalent experience as determined by Professor Arewa. Preference is provided to students who took Startup Company Law in the Fall. Students applying for both the class and practicum should complete only one information Startup Company Information Form

Startup Company Law is a business law class that will follow the lifecycle of the startup company. This class will examine core legal and business issues facing startup companies, including in relation to formation, financing, scaling, operations, and exit. This course is two credits. Students seeking to register for the Startup Company Law course should complete a Startup Company Information Form.

Students applying for the Startup Company Law Practicum should: (1) complete a Startup Company Information Form and (2) submit a current resume and transcript to Professor Arewa at oarewa@gmu.edu.
