Peer Support
Students, recent graduates, and other friends of the school provide support in many ways throughout the law school journey and beyond. Here are some examples.
Mason Mentors
Mason Mentors are an important part of our incoming 1L’s introduction to law school. Upper-class students can apply in the spring and serve as a vital connection throughout the following school year. Duties include reaching out and providing support to our incoming students by answering their questions and giving them advice, helping to foster a community among current and new students, and attending orientation and weekly meetings. For more information, email lawadmit@gmu.edu.
Student Ambassadors
Student Ambassadors represent the law school while working with the Admissions Team and are often the first person a prospective student meets. Student Ambassador engage with prospective and admitted students, provide tours of the building, participate in various admissions events, and greet visitors at the front desk. For more information, email lawadmit@gmu.edu.
Career Council
Members of the Career Council serve as a sounding board for the career services team and provide advice and job leads to students and new graduates. The council talks with students, relays observations about the market, and suggests career information and networking programs for the academic year. Once members graduate, they go on to participate in mock interviews or career panels when schedules permit and provide a regular line of communication about alumni news and developments in the marketplace.
