Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has appointed the Honorable Maureen K. Ohlhausen, JD ’91, to the George Mason University Board of Visitors. A former acting chair and commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission, Ohlhausen is currently a partner in the antitrust and competition practice at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Washington, D.C. She is the only FTC commissioner to have received the Robert Pitofsky Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her contributions to the FTC. She has also testified over two dozen times before Congress, including before the Senate Commerce Committee and the House Energy and Commerce Antitrust Sub-Committee. Ohlhausen is a member of Scalia Law’s Dean’s Alumni Advisory Board and has also served the school as an adjunct, teaching courses on privacy law and unfair trade practices. She joins Armand Alacbay, JD ’04, among law school alumni on the Board of Visitors.

The Board of Visitors (BOV) of George Mason University was created in April 1972 by an act of the General Assembly when the university became an independent institution. The Board of Visitors exercises its authority principally in policy-making and oversight.
