Scalia Law Hosts Reception Honoring Chidi James (’01)

Dean Ken Randall and Chidi James
On Wednesday, November 8, Scalia Law hosted a reception to honor 2001 graduate Chidi James. The event was well attended and provided an opportunity for alumni to reconnect. Photos of the event are available here.
James is the Virginia State Bar Association’s first African American male president. His service to the legal profession has been both impactful and enduring. During law school, James’ investment in the community started his first year when he became a founding member and president of the Trial Advocacy Association and president of the Student Bar Association. After law school, James clerked on the Arlington County Circuit Court. He then went on to complete the Judge Advocate General School Course at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. James put this training to use as a Judge Advocate in the Air National Guard, a role he just recently retired from after 25 years of service. James joined Blankingship & Keith in 2003 and is skilled in a range of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, and products liability. James has also served as the president of the Board of Legal Services of Northern Virginia, the Northern Virginia Black Attorneys Association and on the boards of the Fairfax Law Foundation and Old Dominion Bar Association. Throughout his career, James has remained active at Scalia Law, serving a term on the Dean’s Advisory Alumni Board and continuing to coach trial teams at the school.
