Judge Douglas Ginsburg Explores America’s Declaration of Independence in New Documentary

On September 18, Judge Douglas Ginsburg hosted a showing of We Hold These Truths at Scalia Law. In the film, Judge Ginsburg delves into the powerful impact of America’s Declaration of Independence. Abroad it served as an example to more than 100 nations seeking their independence. Within the United States, it played a pivotal role in shaping the abolitionist movement, the women’s suffrage movement, and the endeavors of prominent civil rights leaders like Frederick Douglass and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Judge Ginsburg hosts and narrates this informative and engaging documentary, traveling throughout the world and interviewing several scholars and other people he meets along the way. 

Judge Ginsburg’s impressive career includes his appointment to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in 1986, where he served as Chief Judge from 2001 to 2008. Prior to this, he clerked for Justice Thurgood Marshall on the United States Supreme Court. Judge Ginsburg is a Professor of Law at Scalia Law, where he also serves as Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the Global Antitrust Institute. Judge Ginsburg's contributions to advancing the rule of law were acknowledged in 2022 when he received The Freedom of the City of London award

This isn't Judge Ginsburg’s first foray into television. In 2020, Judge Ginsburg hosted a PBS series called A More or Less Perfect Union, which explores the American Constitution. During the pandemic, this three-part program was selected for PBS’s “At Home Learning.”
