In Memoriam: Ambassador C. Boyden Gray

Ambassador C. Boyden Gray, a distinguished constitutional lawyer, adviser to two US presidents, and influential member of the Antonin Scalia Law School community, died May 21 at his home in Washington, DC. He was 80.
“Ambassador Gray’s impact on the law school was immeasurable and leaves an enduring legacy,” said Dean Ken Randall. “Our C. Boyden Gray Center for the Study of the Administrative State—unique among law school research centers—stands out as a bridge between academic research and real-world debates taking place in courtrooms and on Capitol Hill. His vision and energy brought the Center to life.
“The Ambassador was a true Renaissance man who understood the human dimensions of the law and the importance of balancing government control with individual freedom,” Dean Randall continued. “He was one of the giants of our profession, and he will be greatly missed.”
