On November 4, Scalia Law hosted its inaugural financial regulation conference. Chaired by Professor Paolo Saguato, the daylong event featured participation by about 20 academics who engaged in a vibrant discussion of open issues in financial regulation. Topics covered included digital assets, social and climate finance, central bank mandates, and derivatives markets. Commodity Futures Trading Commissioner Kristin Johnson joined a fireside chat conversation during lunch.

The event was co-sponsored by the Financial Institutions and Consumer Financial Services Section of the American Association of Law School, which Saguato chairs.

“Thanks to our speakers’ preparation and the thoughtful discussion of our guests, our first conference was a big success,” Saguato said. “I hope that we can involve law school alumni in next year’s conference.”
