Biographical Sketch
Brandy Wagstaff, a 2009 magna cum laude graduate of George Mason University School of Law, joined the Mason Law faculty in the fall of 2009. She regularly teaches Appellate Writing (LRWA III), Legislative & Regulatory Drafting (LRWA IV), Civil Rights Prosecutions, and Appellate Advocacy. Ms. Wagstaff is currently serving as Legal Counsel for Litigation in the Criminal Section’s Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit (HTPU) at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. In this capacity, she provides legal and strategic analysis in support of HTPU-led enforcement activities and initiatives. Prior to joining the HTPU, Ms. Wagstaff served as an Attorney with the Civil Rights Division’s Disability Rights Section, where she engaged in litigation and developed regulations to enforce the Americans with Disabilities Act. Ms. Wagstaff was hired as an Attorney in 2010 through the Attorney General Honors Program after completing a clerkship on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
While attending Mason Law, Ms. Wagstaff also served as a writing fellow, was Editor-in-Chief for the George Mason Civil Rights Law Journal, worked as a research assistant for two Mason Law professors, and was heavily involved in Moot Court. Ms. Wagstaff received her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from the University of West Los Angeles in 1998.
