John (“J.J.”) Kelley, was designated Acting Supreme Court Justice in New York County. After graduating from Ithaca College in 1984, Justice Kelley graduated from the George Mason University School of Law in 1987 as a member of the university’s Law Review. Justice Kelley is a former partner of the Geneseo law firm, Jones, Skivington and Kelley. He also served as a three-time-elected Town Justice in Livonia, a two-term member of the Attorney Grievance Committee (Seventh Judicial District). He relocated to New York City in 2002, working for both the NYS Attorney General and NYS Department of Financial Services. In 2013, he was elected to a ten-year term on the Civil Court in Manhattan. In that position, he previously had served in Bronx Family Court for two years, and in New York City Civil Courts in Brooklyn and Manhattan for two years.
